WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS tonight, Congregation Beth El honors Yaffa Fuchs, who has served as Educational Director of the Religious School for 27 years, a role that encompasses so much; and
WHEREAS under her leadership and guidance, Beth El Religious School has grown both qualitatively and quantitatively, earning the respect of the community and garnering prestigious awards along the way; and
WHEREAS among her successes is the founding of Project Lev, a special-needs program for developmentally challenged children, for which Beth El received the Solomon Schechter Gold Award; and
WHEREAS the daughter of a great Rabbinic lineage, Yaffa's Jewish education began early as her father, Rabbi Jacob Weintraub, Z”L, a scholar and educator, imbued her with a love for learning and encouraged her to pursue a career in Jewish Education; and
WHEREAS Yaffa has taught children and adults in both public and private settings for more than four decades, and is beloved for her ability to connect and empower others; and
WHEREAS outside her professional interests, Yaffa’s main passion lies in her devotion to her family – her husband of 47 years, Jack, her children, Daniella and Ari, her son-in-law, Jeff, and her delightful grandchildren, Benjamin, Yair, Lev and Hannah; and
WHEREAS while it would be impossible to fully encapsulate Yaffa’s contributions to the lives of the children, parents and teachers of Beth El over the last 27 years, we wish to honor and thank her for the years of service to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to honor, celebrate and thank
Yaffa Fuchs
for 27 years of dedicated service to the Beth El Religious School, and do urge all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in thanking Yaffa for her work to support Beth El and the entire Cherry Hill community for nearly three decades.
