WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS the citizens of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, stand firmly committed to promoting reading as the catalyst for our students, and literacy as a key to our community's well-being and long-term quality of life; and
WHEREAS Read Across America Day is a national, annual celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, which promotes reading and adult involvement in the education of our community; and
WHEREAS The Goddard School of Cherry Hill provides a safe place for even our youngest children to cultivate a love of reading and literacy from an early age, and will host its 2016 Read Across America festivities on Wednesday, March 2; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township remain committed to promoting the importance of literacy and learning in our community, and we are proud to join with the Goddard School of Cherry Hill in celebrating Read Across America 2016.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim March 2, 2016, as
Read Across America Day
at the Goddard School
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in thanking the Goddard School community for its commitment to literacy and learning, and in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Seuss by reading with our children this week, and always.
