WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of the Township of Cherry Hill to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS tonight, Township resident Leah Wayne and her family are hosting the Leah’s “Better When I’m Dancing” Fundraiser for Childhood Pain Disorders, in an effort to draw attention to these extremely painful conditions, and to raise funds for the Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS) Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS AMPS is a very personal cause for Leah, as she was diagnosed with this painful, chronic condition in March 2015, after several months of chronic pain and unsuccessful treatment; and
WHEREAS while her condition initially threatened Leah’s ability to continue her love of dancing, the AMPS program at CHOP has helped Leah to work through the pain and, incredibly, to reach a point where she continues to dance six days a week to retrain her nerves; and
WHEREAS Leah truly feels “Better When She’s Dancing,” and as she approaches her 11th birthday, she has chosen to forgo a traditional birthday party and instead to host this fundraiser and give back in a meaningful way to a program that has helped to change her life; and
WHEREAS with this in mind, the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township are proud to join with Leah Wayne and her family in supporting the “Better When I’m Dancing” Fundraiser for Childhood Pain Disorders; and
WHEREAS additionally, we wish to honor and thank Leah for her courage, and to acknowledge her selfless desire to give back to those who have helped her overcome her pain and adversity.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to formally honor

for her efforts to raise awareness of Childhood Pain Disorders, and for her support of the Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia through this fundraiser, and do encourage all residents to join with me and the members of Township Council in wishing Leah a very, very happy 11th birthday, and continued perseverance in her courageous battle against chronic pain.
