WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women and the second leading cause of cancer death in women in the United States; and
WHEREAS the South Jersey Storm youth baseball team has joined in the fight against breast cancer by raising funds throughout the month of October for the Tyanna Foundation, which donates 100 percent of its proceeds to breast cancer patients, to aid in their fight against the illness; and
WHEREAS the team will donate money for every run scored during the month of October, and wear a specially designed pink camouflage jersey to raise awareness while giving back to the community; and
WHEREAS to date, the Storm have raised more than $700 for the Tyanna Foundation, which has helped to raise awareness of breast cancer to both women and men in communities such as Cherry Hill, and generated money for breast cancer research, services, education, treatment and patient care for local breast cancer patients and survivors; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township wish to honor and thank the South Jersey Storm for their efforts in the fight against cancer, and to express appreciation for their commitment to the health and well-being of the residents of Cherry Hill.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to honor and thank the
South Jersey Storm
baseball team for its efforts to support the Tyanna Foundation during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in supporting the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
