WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, family and friends have come together to celebrate Cherry Hill resident Esperanza Miranda, on the occasion of her 106th birthday; and
WHEREAS Esperanza entered the world on December 18, 1909, and was born and raised in Rincon, Puerto Rico, with her parents and fourteen siblings; and
WHEREAS as an adult, Esperanza married Juan Miranda, and together, the couple had one daughter, Virginia; and
WHEREAS today, Esperanza’s family includes daughter Virginia, grandchildren Carlos, Robert and Minerva, and four great-grandchildren, along with two siblings, Candida and Alice; and
WHEREAS family and work have been the greatest pleasures in her life, along with sewing, shopping, cooking and having friends and family over to visit; and
WHEREAS one of her proudest accomplishments was her work managing a handkerchief production company for many years in Puerto Rico, and later, her work as a bridal dress seamstress in New York and Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS Esperanza is loved by all those who know her, and the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township are proud to join in this joyous celebration.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby declare Friday, December 18, 2015, to be
Esperanza Miranda Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and ask all citizens to join me and the members of Township Council in sending Esperanza our sincerest wishes for a very Happy Birthday, and in wishing her continued health, happiness, and an abundance of love and joy as she celebrates this milestone in her life.
