WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of the Township of Cherry Hill to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Fire Prevention Week is celebrated nationally from Oct. 4-10, 2015, and because fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, Cherry Hill Fire District #13 is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS people are at greatest risk from fire in their homes, and Cherry Hill’s first responders are dedicated to reducing the occurrence of home fires and home fire injuries through prevention and protection education; and
WHEREAS we encourage all Cherry Hill residents to have a planned, practiced home-fire escape plan, which increases the chances of survival during a home fire; and
WHEREAS we also encourage all residents to install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home, and to ensure that those devices meet the needs of those who are deaf or hearing-impaired; and
WHEREAS the Cherry Hill Fire Department provides residents with smoke alarms at no cost through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant; and
WHEREAS we proudly support Fire Prevention Week 2015 and its theme, “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm,” which serves as a reminder that working smoke alarms give us the time to get out safely.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby recognize the week of October 4-10, 2015, to be
Fire Prevention Week
in the Township of Cherry Hill and urge all residents to install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home, including the basement, and to join with us in supporting the many public safety activities and efforts of Cherry Hill Fire District on a regular basis.
