WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of the Township of Cherry Hill to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, we proudly honor and celebrate Ava Watkins, a Cherry Hill resident and senior at Cherry Hill High School West, as she officially commits to the University of New Hampshire as a collegiate athlete; and
WHEREAS Ava has trained as a gymnast since she was very young, devoting countless hours each day to training and honing her skills at TNT Gymnastics; and
WHEREAS Ava’s athletic commitment is evident in her achievements through the years, earning the title of Regional All Around Champion in 2015, placing Second All Around in New Jersey and 6th in the nation on the Balance Beam, and earning a second consecutive title as both Regional Balance Beam Champion and Junior Olympic National Qualifier, as well as qualifying for the Region 7 All Star Team, which trained in Glasgow, Scotland; and
WHEREAS perhaps most admirably, Ava helps coach other young, aspiring gymnasts both at TNT and throughout the community, and serves as a wonderful role model for so many girls whose mantra has become “I want to be like Ava,”; and
WHEREAS the Cherry Hill community is proud of all of our promising young men and women, and wishes to call special attention to Ava Watkins, who will begin her career as a collegiate gymnast in 2016.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, to be
Ava Watkins Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Township Council in congratulating Ava on her acceptance to the University of New Hampshire, in thanking her for her hard work and positivity, and in wishing her the best as she begins a new phase in both life and gymnastics.
