WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS on April 25, 2015, the Cherry Hill community, led by Sustainable Cherry Hill, Cherry Hill Township and Cherry Hill Public Schools, will come together to “Celebrate, Learn, Grow” at the 6th annual Sustainable Cherry Hill Earth Festival; and
WHEREAS from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than 100 vendors, green crafters and exhibitors, and our 19 public schools will come together for family-friendly fun, education, and a celebration of community-wide sustainability; and
WHEREAS founded as a small community festival at Carusi Middle School in 2009, Earth Festival has blossomed into its largest showing yet for 2015, with more than 5,000 visitors expected at Croft Farm throughout the afternoon; and
WHEREAS the festival would not be possible without a strong partnership between Sustainable Cherry Hill, Cherry Hill Township and Cherry Hill Public Schools, which work together to promote environmental education and to create policies and programs that have made Cherry Hill a Sustainability Champion in New Jersey; and
WHEREAS we wish to honor and thank the Sustainable Cherry Hill Executive Board and the countless volunteers whose time and energy will bring this year’s Festival to life, with very special thanks to Brenda Jorett, without whose continued vision, time, dedication and leadership this Earth Festival and its success would not be possible; and
WHEREAS this year’s event takes on special significance, as it coincides with the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, and we wish to officially recognize the extraordinary challenges that continue to face today’s global community, and acknowledge the fact that, despite our great progress here locally, our work to secure a greener, healthier and more sustainable future for everyone is far from finished.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby recognize the
Sustainable Cherry Hill Earth Festival
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and urge all citizens to join me and Council on Saturday, April 25, to Celebrate-Learn-Grow at Croft Farm. Furthermore, we wish to recommit ourselves to continuing our work, both locally and globally, to combat the sustainability challenges that persist in our world, and working to secure a better, healthier and more sustainable world for future generations.
