WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS this year, Ponzio’s Diner Bakery and Bar celebrates 50 Years of Business in Cherry Hill Township; and
WHEREAS Ponzio’s was founded in 1964, when Mike and Nick Fifis purchased the former Ellisburg Diner, and today, the restaurant at the corner of Route 70 and Kings Highway has become our community’s unofficial meeting place, and one of South Jersey’s most recognizable landmarks; and
WHEREAS through the years, Ponzio’s has served our community with pride, employing more than 10,000 area residents and serving quality food to countless others; and
WHEREAS at the same time, the Fifis Family continually finds ways to give back to the area it serves, supporting causes such as the Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund and the Cooper Foundation, and other worthwhile charitable organizations and events in South Jersey; and
WHEREAS while some things have changed at Ponzio’s in the last 50 years, the Fifis Family’s commitment to serving the community, and to delivering patrons delicious food and a warm atmosphere has remained the same, and we hope to see its success continue for many years to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby join in celebrating
50 Years of Business
and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in congratulating Ponzio’s and the Fifis Family on reaching this milestone, and in thanking the entire Ponzio’s Family for their many years of support for Cherry Hill Township, our residents, our programs and initiatives, and our entire community, and for generally helping to make Cherry Hill a better place to live, work and play.
