WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, Rotarians from around the country have come together for 30th annual Strike Out Hunger Dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, an event aimed at raising funds for polio eradication and collecting food for the local food bank; and
WHEREAS attending this year’s event is new Rotary International President Gary C.K. Huang, a longtime Rotarian who first joined the organization in 1976; and
WHEREAS Mr. Huang was born in Southern China and grew up in Taiwan, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Taipei, Taiwan; and
WHEREAS throughout the years, Mr. Huang has served as district governor, director and vice president, Trustee of the Rotary Foundation, and chairman and member of numerous international committees and task forces, and has been instrumental in the area of membership development throughout Asia; and
WHEREAS Mr. Huang has widely recognized for his efforts, including receipt of the RI President Citation and the Rotary’s highest honor, the Service Above Self award, and the Township of Cherry Hill is proud to welcome Mr. Huang into our community for this year’s Strike Out Hunger Dinner.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Thursday, August 8, 2014, to be

in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in welcoming Mr. Huang as the newest President of Rotary International, and in thanking him for his work to promote, develop and support Rotary since 1976.
