WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS this May, members of Cherry Hill High School West’s vocal and instrumental music ensembles earned several top honors at the North American Music Festivals competition in Virginia Beach; and
WHEREAS the annual competition provided the young men and women of West’s music program with the exciting opportunity to perform at a higher level and on a larger stage than they are accustomed, and their accolades were the result of countless hours of hard work, practice and dedication; and
WHEREAS the students excelled: Men of Note and Fermata earned Superior ratings in the men’s and women’s choir categories, the Chamber Singers achieved a Superior rating in the madrigal choir division, the combined Symphonic Choirs and the West Singers earned Superior ratings in the mixed choir division. Additionally, the West Singers won Best Overall Choral Ensemble; and
WHEREAS among the instrumental groups, the String Orchestra earned an Excellent rating, the Jazz Ensemble secured a Superior rating and the highest score among all instrumental ensembles, and the Wind Ensemble claimed 1st Place and a Superior rating in the Open Division, and was named Best Overall Concert Band.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, wish to honor and congratulate the
Cherry Hill High School West
on their remarkable showing at the 2014 North American Music Festivals competition, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in celebrating the achievements of this young men and women, whose hard work and dedication has made our entire community proud.
