WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, friends and family celebrate the life of Harvey Mitnick, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and a dedicated and talented attorney; and
WHEREAS a native of Philadelphia who grew up in East Camden, Mr. Mitnick received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959; and
WHEREAS Mr. Mitnick spent more than 50 years as a highly regarded attorney in Camden County, and was most recently a senior partner at the firm of Mitnick, Josselson, DePersia & Baker; and
WHEREAS a man who was devoted to his profession, Mr. Mitnick held leadership roles in the Camden County Bar Association and other legal organizations, and received several awards, including the Bar Association’s Professional Lawyer of the Year in 1998, and the Peter Devine Award for distinguished service in 2010; and
WHEREAS in addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Mitnick served his country for six months in the Army National Guard, and six years in the Reserve, before being honorably discharged in 1965; and
WHEREAS Mr. Mitnick was a sportsman who enjoyed playing softball, tennis and golf, as well as his Saturdays at the racetrack; and
WHEREAS Most importantly, Harvey Mitnick was loved by all those who knew him, including his wife of 53 years, Carol, his sons Craig and Scott, their wives, Fern and Sarina, and his four grandchildren, Dylan, Alana, Cameron and Blake.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, wish to celebrate the life of
Harvey M. Mitnick
and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in honoring and remembering Mr. Mitnick for his contributions to our community throughout his life.
