WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy individuals; and
WHEREAS tonight, the Katz JCC wishes to honor Cherry Hill resident Hank Davis with its 2013 David Back Maccabi Memorial Award; and
WHEREAS in all aspects of his young life, Hank has exemplified the qualities required for this award, which is given to those who are leaders both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS Hank grew up in the Maccabi world, attending the games with his father each year as a young child, and eventually becoming an accomplished member of both the Junior Maccabi and Maccabi Games boys’ basketball teams, securing bronze and silver medals as a junior athlete, and three gold medals in his later years; and
WHEREAS Hank was also a Hall of Fame athlete at Cherry Hill East High School, as both a decorated basketball and tennis player; and
WHEREAS Hank has excelled off the field, as well, as a member of the National Honor Society, the Distributive Education Clubs of America, and the Georgetown University Medical Institute Pre-Health Professional Program, and as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, the Special Olympics, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby honor
for his numerous contributions to our community, and for setting a positive example for other young people in Cherry Hill. I urge all citizens to join with me and Township Council in wishing Hank continued health, happiness and success and as he continues on this impressive journey through life.
