WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, we gather together to honor Jessie V. Flournoy, as she celebrates her
100th birthday; and
WHEREAS born in Warrington, Va., on November 4, 1913, Jessie was the youngest child of George and Rosie Day, and was preceded by one sister, Georgia; and
WHEREAS Jessie is the proud mother of one son, Calvin, and considers his wife, Lillie, to be her own daughter; and
WHEREAS Jessie is also a proud grandmother to four, a great-grandmother to five, a great-great-grandmother to two, and a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS throughout her 100 years, Jessie has lived an independent and healthy life, has always supported her church, and loves cooking, entertaining, doll collecting, and visiting with her grandchildren; and
WHEREAS Jessie has said that she is thankful that God permitted her to reach her 100th birthday, and the people of Cherry Hill are honored to help recognize and celebrate this milestone in her long and remarkable life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, November 4, 2013, to be
Jessie V. Flournoy Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in wishing Jessie the happiest of birthdays, and in wishing her continued health and happiness in the days, months, and years ahead.
