WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of the Township of Cherry Hill to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Cherry Hill is home to 13 neighborhood swim clubs that have become iconic symbols of the special quality of life we enjoy as Township residents; and
WHEREAS those swim clubs are operated and supported all summer long by dedicated, well-trained staff members who take their jobs and responsibilities very seriously; and
WHEREAS this August, the staff of the Kingston Estates Swim Club reminded us of the critical role that lifeguards and other individuals play in ensuring the continued health and well-being of all those who use Cherry Hill’s pools; and
WHEREAS on this particular evening, the lifeguards on duty at the Kingston Swim Club were required to put their training into action to help a swimmer in distress, and deliver assistance that ultimately proved to be life-saving; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill wish to express our gratitude to lifeguards Alex King, Daniel Walsh, Jeffrey Nixon, and Kevin Quinn for their quick thinking and life-saving actions – and to commend the Swim Club’s executive board and staff for maintaining an environment that is safe and enjoyable for all patrons.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, October 28, 2013, to be
Kingston Estates Swim Club Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in commending the Kingston Swim Club staff and these four lifeguards for continuing to make our community a safer, healthier and happier place to live, work and play.
