WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and events; and
WHEREAS today, we come together to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Connect Church; and
WHEREASthe Connect Church is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-generational group of people to connect people to God and restore hope and dignity to people’s lives, while helping to elevate the community; and
WHEREAS with a focus on social justice programs here in Camden County, and an investment in youth programs that inspires and empowers the next generation to become leaders, the Connect Church lives out its mission in our local community every day; and
WHEREAS its commitment holds true on a global scale, as well – working with orphans in Russia, constructing buildings in Ecuador, Peru, Ghana, Nicaragua and on Native American Reservations in Arizona, working with underprivileged youth in the UK, and training pastors and leaders throughout Europe and South America; and
WHEREAS for nearly two decades, the Connect Church has been a place for diverse people to learn to live and celebrate life together, and to deliver their gifts on a global scale – creating a sense of mutual belonging, purpose and passion for others, as well as the things of God.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Sunday, October 27, 2013, to be
Connect Church Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, in commemoration of the Church’s 15th anniversary, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in thanking the Church’s founders for giving our community a place that is welcoming to all people, and whose focus is on bringing spreading hope, dignity, and powerful values that help make the Cherry Hill community, and our world, a better place to live.
