WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township wish to acknowledge noteworthy members of our community; and
WHEREAS today, friends and family have come together to honor Horace Ambrose Louby, who celebrated his 90th birthday on Sept. 9, 2013; and
WHEREAS Mr. Louby was born in Moorestown, N.J., in 1926 to Ambrose and Lilly Louby, and had four siblings: Agnes, Dott, Sam and Bob; and
WHEREAS Mr. Louby is a veteran of the United States Army, who served from 1943 to 1946 as a member of the 6th Armored Division stationed in Germany, France, Italy and Belgium during World War II; and
WHEREAS in 1946, Mr. Louby married Lena Miraglia of Medford, and remained her loving, faithful and devoted husband for 53 years, and the couple made their home here in Cherry Hill, where Mr. Louby still lives; and
WHEREAS Mr. Louby used the GI Bill to study automobile mechanics and the machinist trade, and worked for 36 years as a machinist with the Campbell Soup Company in Camden; and
WHEREAS Mr. Louby loves walking, reading, watching baseball and football, and remains a picture of health despite his 90 years; and
WHEREAS Mr. Louby is beloved by all those who know him, particularly by his nephew, Joseph, and Joseph’s children, Emily, Molly and Matthew, and the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill wish to help honor this remarkable man.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, to be
Horace A. Louby Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in wishing Mr. Louby a very happy 90th birthday, and in wishing him continued health and happiness in the days, months, and years to come.
