WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Cherry Hill resident Joseph Hooker, a member of Troop 121 in Lindenwold, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, joining a prestigious group of young men dedicated to serving and improving the community; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout project, Joseph coordinated and managed a team of volunteers in building a raised walkway extending over an area of the Bunker Hill Trails system that becomes impassible during inclement weather, a project which included the clearing of roots and overgrown vegetation, leveling of the trail, fundraising, acquiring equipment, and construction of the walkway; and
WHEREAS the honor of Eagle Scout is bestowed upon approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts annually, and the lessons and skills this elite group exhibits provide a foundation for these young leaders to continue to lead by example through service throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are proud to call Joseph one of Cherry Hill’s own, as he exemplifies the values that make our community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Saturday, April 20, 2013 to be

Eagle Scout Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Joseph on his tremendous achievement.
