WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS the 2012 season was one of great success for the Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League, as they accumulated more than eight titles on their way to the winningest season in the league’s history; and
WHEREAS led by their invaluable coaches and League Administration, each level’s baseball tournament team experienced wonderfully successful seasons; accomplishments include: 8-9 year olds participated in several tournaments, 10-year-olds celebrated District and Sectional Titles and finished ranked second in the state, 11-year-olds participated in the District Tournament, 12-year-olds obtained their third consecutive District Title, Junior and Senior Leagues each won Districts, and the 50/70 Division won Districts; and
WHEREAS the girls’ softball program was equally successful, as their 10–year-olds won Districts and placed second in Sectionals, and the 12-year-olds won their second consecutive District Title; and
WHEREAS throughout Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League’s 42 years of providing youth sports programs, its purpose and mission to encourage sportsmanship, hard work, and determination has remained constant and been carried out by each and every team in the 2012 Little League season; and
WHEREAS as Mayor and Township Council, we acknowledge that extracurricular activities provide a variety of benefits to students, and we appreciate the endeavors of the coaches and parents who enthusiastically encourage and support these activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, August 21, 2012 as
Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in congratulating the participants of the Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League on their many accomplishments.
