WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, friends and family have gathered together to honor and celebrate Cherry Hill resident Thomas Lowers as he turns 105; and
WHEREAS Thomas dedicated himself to the Cherry Hill community through service on the various boards, committees, and civic associations that provide unsurpassed service to the residents of Cherry Hill Township and the Greater Camden County region; and
WHEREAS memberships and leadership roles included past President and Vice President of the Camden County Vocational & Technical School Board, Chairman of the Cherry Hill Senior Citizen’s Advisory Board, member of the Advisory Board of the Camden County Salvation Army, Advisory Council of Cooper Hospital, local Lions Club, Cherry Hill Maturity Club, American Association of Retired Persons, amongst numerous additional memberships; and
WHEREAS Thomas and his wife moved to Cherry Hill Township, becoming the sixth generation of the Lower’s family to own the historic Joseph Stokely family farm house in Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS Thomas was a dedicated employee of the Township, serving as a Building Inspector; and
WHEREAS Mayor Cahn and Township Council are honored to recognize a dedicated community member, who is loved by all who know him, and wish to express their best wishes as he celebrates this milestone in his life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim June 13, 2012, to be
Thomas H. Lowers Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in saying “Happy Birthday” to Thomas, and in wishing him continued health and happiness in the days, months, and years to come.
