WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS June 2012 marks the retirement of Monsignor Thomas J. Morgan, pastor of St. Mary’s Parish and St. Thomas More Parish, after serving one year and nine years respectably; and
WHEREAS Monsignor Morgan was ordained a priest on June 6, 1965 prior to serving the parishes of Queen of the Apostles in Pennsville from 1990-1996, Christ the King in Haddonfield from 1996-2002, St. Thomas More in Cherry Hill from 2003-2012, and St. Mary’s in Cherry Hill from 2011-2012; and
WHEREAS during his tenure Monsignor Morgan has held several administrative position in the diocese, including director of vocations, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia, and Apostolic Administrator for the Camden Diocese in 2003; and
WHEREAS a longtime member of the Camden Diocese and the Cherry Hill Township community, Monsignor Morgan has made a lasting impact on generations through his commitment to the Catholic community, as well as the the Greater Cherry Hill and Camden Diocese communities; and
WHEREAS Mayor Cahn and Township Council are honored to recognize Monsignor Morgan for his impact on Cherry Hill Township and his dedication and leadership as an esteemed religious leader in the community; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, June 25, 2012, as
Msgr. Thomas J. Morgan Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing Monsignor Thomas J. Morgan for his dedication and leadership throughout Cherry Hill Township and congratulate him upon his retirement.
