WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and events; and
WHEREAS Ovarian Cancer impacts over 22, 000 women annually, is associated with having one of the highest mortality rates of any cancer, and is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the United States; and
WHEREAS Ovarian Cancer touches women of all backgrounds and ages; during National Ovarian Cancer month, we honor and remember the mothers, sisters, and daughters lost and support those fighting and the families who join their loved ones in this fighting this disease; and
WHEREAS the goal of the Paint the Town Teal partnership campaign is to educate women about risk factors, discuss symptoms, and assist in the research of new methods to detect Ovarian Cancer, clinical trials for new therapies, and continue to support prevention and treatment; and
WHEREAS September is nationally recognized as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, a time to educate and remember; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council strongly support the initiatives and progression of Ovarian Cancer research and awareness.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim September as
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in raising awareness of Ovarian Cancer and recognizing this historic time.
