WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and events; and
WHEREAS more than 227,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed annually, impacting both men and women of all backgrounds and ages, and affecting the families who join their loved ones in their courageous fight against this disease; and
WHEREAS awareness and education of the importance of regular screenings and early detection are essential to the prevention and treatment of breast cancer; ;
WHEREAS the goal of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to educate men and women about risk factors, discuss symptoms, and assist in the research of new methods of detection and treatment of breast cancer; and
WHEREAS October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor women and men lost to breast cancer through the recommitment of supporting the ongoing research, advocacy, and treatment of this devastating disease; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council strongly support the initiatives and progression of breast cancer research and awareness.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim October as
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in raising awareness of Breast Cancer and recognizing this historic time.
