WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, members of the community, players and coaches, alumni and the Board of Directors have come together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League; and
WHEREAS originally founded by Cherry Hill neighbors Roger Barrows and Don Welliver, Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League (CHALL) has been committed to being a leading educational-athletic organization since 1970. By encouraging participation, developing character and discipline, promoting teamwork and advocating community pride, CHALL has created a positive environment in which coaches, parents, fans and players work together to achieve this goal; and
WHEREAS Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League provides young athletes with an opportunity to develop recreational and competitive baseball and softball skills, to instill an enduring love for the games and to build confidence and character through a team-driven setting. CHALL cultivates an environment that welcomes positive involvement and support by parents and family members of all ages. Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League serves as a galvanizing presence for its residents, business owners and civic leaders; and
WHEREAS currently, CHALL has 450 baseball and softball players ranging from 4-16 years old, maintains seven playing fields, as well as a two-story facility that serves as home to their field house and snack stand; and
WHEREAS known for their fun, instructional and competitive experience for all athletes, Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League has thrived in our community for five decades.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim May 10, 2019, to be
Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League Day
in Cherry Hill Township, and urge all citizens to join with me, members of Township Council, players and their families, coaches and volunteers in celebrating the Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League’s 50th Anniversary and applauding the commitment these young athletes have made here in Cherry Hill.
