WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today we come together as a community to celebrate a day of hands-on Jewish STEM Learning with the goal of Tikkun Olam, a concept defined by acts of kindness performed to perfect or repair the world; and
WHEREAS one of our most important resources is our youth who represent the future of our community; and
WHEREAS today’s students are the thinkers, creators, innovators and doers of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS strong science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education helps create pioneers of the future that will help move us to a higher level of excellence; and
WHEREAS J-STEM education makes a difference in children’s lives and all children need opportunities to get excited about J-STEM subjects; and
WHEREAS J-STEM skills, knowledge, and dispositions – such as curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and inquiry – have become essential to fully participate in modern democratic society and are the gateway to high-wage, high-demand jobs that will drive our prosperity; and
WHEREAS by developing these J-STEM skills and encouraging our youth with experiential learning experiences we will help students foster critical thinking and problem solving skills to apply innovative thought processes to real world problems in hopes of making the world a better place.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby declare Sunday, January 20, 2019, to be
