WHEREAS tonight, we wish to honor and thank Peggy McDaniels for her many years of service to the Friends of Barclay Farmstead; and
WHEREAS Peggy’s service to the Friends of Barclay Farmstead started over twenty years ago, when she first became a member; and
WHEREAS during her time as a member, Peggy performed a number of important roles at the Farmstead; these included being an interpreter for school visits to the Farmstead, giving general tours of the Farmstead property, serving as a spinner and weaver, and dutifully serving as docent at the Farmstead Museum on Wednesday afternoons.
WHEREAS as a spinner and weaver, Peggy’s own personal flair for color and style carried through on the loom while showing the children how early craftspeople created fiber and textiles; and
WHEREAS Peggy was always willing to assist and participate in the Farmstead’s programming; she led projects for Living History Days, First Sundays, open houses, annual holiday houses, and the first Apple Palooza in 2017. For the 200th Anniversary Luncheon of the Friends of Barclay Farmstead, Peggy served as the main speaker and re-enactor of Ester Thorn who was the first lady of Chestnut Grove Farm; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township believe that the Friends of Barclay Farmstead plays an integral role in our community, by helping residents understand the rich history of Cherry Hill Township, and they acknowledge that the strength and sustainability of this organization is dependent upon the dedication of volunteers like Peggy McDaniels; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to honor and recognize
for her dedicated service to Cherry Hill Township, and the residents of Cherry Hill, and ask all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in thanking Peggy for her role in making our community a better place to live, work and play, and in wishing her all the best.
