WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Girl Scouts is an inclusive, all-female environment that creates a safe space where girls can try new things, develop a range of skills, take on leadership roles, and be themselves; and
WHEREAS Morgan Miller, a Juliette Girl Scout, is one step closer to achieving her Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn from sixth through eighth grade and requires fifty hours of community service; and
WHEREAS by earning the Silver Award, Morgan has demonstrated that she is organized, determined, and dedicated to improving the community; and
WHEREAS working towards her Girl Scout Silver Award, Morgan upgraded the library at Brookdale Marlton Crossing, an assisted living center in Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS Morgan utilized social media to collect about one hundred new books for community members, held a garage sale to raise money to buy magazine subscriptions for the senior center and spent six months working on her project; and
WHEREAS the lessons learned and skills acquired while working towards her Silver Award help promising young women like Morgan to develop into leaders who will benefit our world for years to come; and
WHEREAS Morgan serves as an example to the youth of our community through his high level of personal achievement, leadership and community service and has made the Township of Cherry Hill very proud.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, March 27, 2018 to be
Morgan Miller Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to working towards a Girl Scout Silver Award, and in congratulating Morgan and her family on her tremendous achievement.
