WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Aidan Simms, a member of Boy Scout Troop 170, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, joining an elite group of young men dedicated to serving and improving the community; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout project, Aidan wanted to encourage reading in the community, and built a Little Free Library at the Dave Randall Tot Lot at Point of Woods Park, which allows people of all ages to give and take books for free; and
WHEREAS the honor of Eagle Scout is bestowed upon approximately 5 percent of all Boy Scouts annually, making it a truly prestigious achievement; and
WHEREAS the lessons learned and skills acquired while working toward the Eagle Scout rank help promising young men like Aidan to develop into leaders who will benefit our world for years to come; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are proud to call Aidan one of Cherry Hill’s own, as he exemplifies the values that make our community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Saturday, June 24, 2017, to be
Aidan Simms Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Aidan and his family on this tremendous achievement.
