The Recreation Department sponsors many events each year and oversees community athletics, history, arts, cultural, and summer camp programs at sites throughout the township. In addition, the Recreation Department also provides a new schedule of youth, adult, and senior education classes each season.

The Community Magazine is mailed to each home in Cherry Hill. Registration can be done by mail, in person, or online. If registering by mail, click here for a registration form.
  
Registration for all spring programs is now open. Magazines are currently at the printer and should be in homes around February 15.

HIGHLIGHTED RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS

SPRING

ACTING FOR FUN AND PROFIT

Ever wonder if you have what it takes to be another DeNiro or Streep? Tap into your creativity and have some fun with introductory senior acting classes! Monologues, scene study, drama and comedy - find out how the A-list celebs hone their skills through character analysis and improve techniques. It’s never too late to find the actor within you! Taught by a professional award winning TV, radio, film and theater veteran of over 30 years! This workshop is geared towards helping seniors feel alive and vibrant thru the power and magic of the theater.

When: 8 Tuesdays, 4/30 - 6/18, 3-5 pm

Where: Croft Farm Arts Center

Who: Ages 55+

ACRYLIC POUR PAINTING

Learn how to create your very own abstract masterpieces with Acrylic Pouring techniques; one of the trendiest types of painting happening right now. Acrylic Pour Painting is an easy to learn process using fluid medium to create paintings with rich, vibrant colors in compelling, organic patterns. Great for those who are new to acrylic painting as well as more experienced artists. Materials not provided.

When: 5 Thursdays, 5/2 - 5/30, 12 - 2 pm (first class 12-1 pm)

Where: Croft Farm Arts Center

Who: Ages 16+

TRADITIONAL CHINESE PAINTING

This class will introduce the basics of traditional Chinese painting using specialized materials and techniques with step-by-step instruction. This class is ideal if you marvel at landscapes, flora and fauna in your everyday life. Learn the materials and methods for rendering beautiful images in nature that have long inspired the Chinese. Your paintings will be created using Chinese brushes, inks, pigments and rice paper. No experience is necessary. Materials not provided.

When: 8 Wednesdays, 4/17 - 6/12 (NC 4/24), 6:30 - 8 pm

Who: Ages 18+

CRAYOLA® ARTIST'S PASSPORT - TRAVEL THE WORLD THROUGH ART

Children embark on an around-the-world cultural adventure − explore far-off places and learn about the people who live there, from the Americas to Polynesia, from the cosmopolitan to the countryside. They experiment with Crayola® products, while trying art techniques developed by local artists and artisans. They make different masterpieces each week such as drums, masks, canvases, prints, and more! They bring their unique creations home, where they can build a globally-inspired art gallery.

When: 8 Mondays, 4/8 - 6/10 (NC 4/22 & 5/27), 5-6 pm

Who: Grades K-5

INTRODUCTION TO ULTIMATE FRISBEE

This introduction to Ultimate Frisbee clinic series will teach players about all of the skills, rules, communication and teamwork needed for success on the Ultimate field through drills, games and scrimmaging. Respectful and spirited play, as highlighted by Ultimate's "Spirit of the Game" philosophy, will be emphasized. Open to all skill levels for both males and females, and no prior experience required to participate.  

When: 3 Saturdays, 4/27 - 5/11 (Rain date: 5/18)

Where: Springbrook Park (Spring Rd off Evesham Rd)

Who: Grades 4 - 8 (8:30  - 10 am)

         Grades 9 - 12 (10:15  - 11:45 am)

ROOKIE RUGBY

Rookie Rugby is an introductory sport for boys and girls ages 7-13 years of age. Kids, parents, teachers, fans, referees and coaches learn and compete in a simplified version of rugby played with flag belts (non-contact). The rules and programs of Rookie Rugby tie together child development, healthy activity, fair play, fun and safety. The first few weeks will cover one hour of instruction time and 30 minutes of gameplay. Towards the end of the program, gameplay will be a primary focus. All standard equipment will be provided by South Jersey Rugby. Please wear molded soccer shoes or sneakers, shorts and tee shirt.

*Held rain or shine!

When: 7 Saturdays, 4/6 - 5/18, 9-10:30 am

Where: Rugby Field at DeCou Park

Who: Ages 7-13
