Training
Upon appointment as a probationary police officer, the candidate will attend a State-certified Police Academy for municipal police officers. It is the responsibility of the police recruit to successfully complete and pass this training in order to receive certification from the Police Training Commission.
Training is a process that continues throughout a Cherry Hill Police Officer's entire career with a minimum of the following:
The Police Academy for municipal officers, approximately 16 weeks
Post academy class room training
Training with an experienced field training officer which may cover 12 to 16 weeks during which a probationary officer will be instructed, observed, and evaluated daily
Solo field training which involves a field training officer observing and evaluating
Annual 40 hour training for all police officers
Specialized training which may be extended, continuing, or short term
The Central Records Department is located
on the first floor of the Municipal building. It is open Monday through
Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to file incident reports, and between 9 a.m.
and 4 p.m. to sign criminal charges.
