Veterans Gala: An Evening to Support Our Troops
Posted August 26, 2005 From Mayor Bernie Platt
Our military men and women sacrifice daily to protect and defend our nation, separating from their families and heading into harm’s way. I know the families of our brave servicemen and women deeply appreciate tangible expressions of support from “hometowns” like Cherry Hill, and that is why I am proud to announce that the Township is co-sponsoring a worthy charitable event, the Fourth Annual Veterans Gala Dinner Dance at the Cherry Hill Armory, Park Boulevard, on October 15, 2005 from 6 to 11 p.m. (Click here for an informational flyer in convenient, printable format).
The Veterans Gala Dinner Dance will bring together active duty personnel, veterans, families, community leaders, and media personalities such as CN8’s Bruce Casella and KYW-TV’s Garry Cobb. The Eagles’ Jon Runyon and Hank Fraley will be honored, and prior to the main event, numerous Eagles players and cheerleaders will host a signing event outside the Armory. A significant portion of all funds raised will go directly to local Guard families through the efforts of the Family Readiness Council.
How can you help? The Gala Committee is selling a limited number of remaining tickets for the dinner, program, and dance. Of course, donations will be accepted, and event sponsors are still welcome. Also, the event program book has available ad space. To volunteer your time, purchase tickets, donate, sponsor, or advertise, call the Gala Committee at 856-354-2172 or email VeteransDinDance@aol.com.
I would like to extend special thanks to Gala Chair Eric Spevak and his committee of dedicated volunteers for their efforts on behalf of our military families. Thanks also to the Gala’s title sponsors: Forman Mills, IDPartners, and Commerce Bank. Please thoughtfully consider your personal contribution to the Veterans Gala, and remember to offer substantive support to our military families at every opportunity.
BERNIE PLATT
MAYOR
The Gala is co-hosted by the New Jersey National Guard Family Readiness Council, American Legion Post 38, Jewish War Veterans Post 126, and Cherry Hill Township.
