Cherry Hill’s website named one of New Jersey’s bestEGov awards.jpg
Cherry Hill has one of the top municipal websites in the state – and the best in New Jersey when it comes to citizen interaction – according to a study released this week by the Monmouth University Polling Institute and Graduate Program in Public Policy. Cherry Hill ranked 15th overall among 540 municipalities evaluated by the polling institute. This is really tremendous news, and reinforces my belief that we in Town Hall are using technology to make government more efficient and effective – and accessible to the residents we serve. For more on this exciting news, click here.

Township, County host special household waste collection tomorrow
Cherry Hill Township and Camden County Department of Public Works will hold a special household hazardous waste collection from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Township Public Works Complex, 1 Perina Blvd. Residents can dispose of their old automotive fluids, household cleaners, and pesticides, as well as other common household waste that is prohibited from curbside trash disposal. While oil-based paints will be accepted, latex paint is non-hazardous and should instead be dried out and disposed of in your regular curbside trash collection. For a list of permissible items, click here. This special event will be held rain or shine. For more information, please call (856) 858-5241.

Register by March 28 for Girls on the Run spring sessionGOTR (2).png
Girls in grades 3 through 5 are invited to register now for the second installment of “Girls on the Run,” a program offered by the Katz JCC in cooperation with the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign that teaches life skills and important lessons through conversation and running. Through a series of sessions with their coaches, girls learn about emotional and physical wellness, build friendships and learn teamwork, all while having fun. The first session, held last fall, was extremely successful – so much so that the program has been expanded for this year. Several spots are still available; however, registration ends March 28. For details, click here.

5K run, family fun walk to support the Barclay Farm Swim Club
This Sunday, I am scheduled to help kick off the second annual ‘Cudas on the Run 5K, a great community event at the Barclay Farm Swim Club, 315 Whitemarsh Way. Our swim clubs are one of our Township’s greatest assets, and they deserve our support; I hope to see you there! You’ll have fun, and get some exercise, too. Registration begins at 7:30, and the 5K starts at 8:30. A 2-mile walk and kids’ 75-yard dash are also scheduled. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. For more information and to register, click here.

Thanks to those who ‘Walked with the Mayor’ this week!mwclogo2.jpg
Wednesday was another very successful “Walk with the Mayor” at the Cherry Hill Mall, and I’d like to thank those who attended – particularly the “regulars” I now look forward to seeing each month. The next walk – scheduled for 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, will be our last before we take a break for the summer. If you can, please consider participating. It is a great time, and an easy way to start your day on the right foot. For more information on this and other Wellness events, call my office at (856) 488-7878, e-mail MWC@chtownship.com, or click here.

Register now for spring Recreation classes, events
The Spring 2013 Community Magazine is now in homes and registration is open for upcoming Recreation Department classes and events. The 32-page magazine contains a recap of news and events, as well as a comprehensive listing of upcoming activities for residents of all ages. Reminder: Report potholes on local roads to Public Works
The Department of Public Works has crews dedicated to repairing potholes across the nearly 260 miles of roadways maintained by Cherry Hill Township and keep our streets safe and navigable. If you see a problem spot or have another road-related concern, call Public Works at (856) 424-4422 Monday-Friday, or contact us 24/7 through the “Report a Concern” page on the Township website, www.CherryHill-NJ.com. Cherry Hill, Camden County partner on chair yoga for seniorschair yoga for briefing.jpg
This week was the first of six free Chair Yoga sessions Cherry Hill and Camden County have scheduled for seniors in March, April and May at the Township Municipal Building. We had a packed house, and seniors who attended had a great time. Chair Yoga allows individuals to participate at their own level, while building flexibility and strength through the exercises taught by yoga expert and registered nurse Barbara Piotrowski. The next session is scheduled from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in the N. John Amato Council Chambers (Room 208) at Town Hall. Sessions are also planned April 17, May 1 and May 15. For more information or to register, call (856) 488-7868, or email Recreation@chtownship.com.
