Whole Foods coming to Ellisburg Shopping Center in 2014Whole_Foods_Market_logo.jpg
On Thursday, I was thrilled to announce that Whole Foods Market will open at the Ellisburg Circle Shopping Center in 2014. Whole Foods, the world’s leading natural and organic supermarket and the country’s first national certified organic grocer, joins a host of other high-profile retailers, restaurants and other businesses to open in the Township since I took office in January 12, and I believe it will be a wonderful addition to our community. In addition to creating local jobs, the store’s arrival will rejuvenate the Shopping Center, and help to transform it into a vibrant environment in the center of the Township. I look forward to welcoming Whole Foods into Cherry Hill next year. For more information on yesterday’s announcement, click here

The Cherry Hill Township Municipal Building will be closed Monday, Feb. 18, in observance of President’s Day. The Cherry Hill Public Library will be closed, as well. All trash and recycling will be collected as scheduled.  Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!

Board names new director for the Cherry Hill Public LibraryLaverne Mann-bio pic final.jpg
The Cherry Hill Library’s Board of Trustees announced this week that it had selected Laverne Mann as the library’s next director. Laverne will officially take the helm on Feb. 25. Laverne brings with her a wealth of experience, creativity and talent, and has already indicated that she hopes to build upon and expand the excellent programs and services the library offers our residents. I know the library will flourish under Laverne’s leadership, and I want to personally congratulate her on her appointment. For more information, click here.

Council approves new cash-for-gold store regulations
On Monday, Council adopted new licensing and reporting regulations aimed at helping police more efficiently monitor transactions at cash-for-gold and secondhand goods stores in Cherry Hill. The new regulations will free up police time and resources, and more importantly, will make it easier to identify when stolen items are pawned or sold. For more information, click here.

Congratulations to the Township's Maturity ClubMaturity Club.jpg
This week, Councilman Jim Bannar and I had the honor of swearing in the new officers of the Cherry Hill Township Maturity Club for the coming year. The Maturity Club is a social organization for residents 55 and up. Members meet every Monday from noon to 4 p.m. in the Carman Tilelli Community Center; with a business meeting and guest speaker scheduled for the second Monday of every month. Social activities include bingo, cards, shuffleboard, refreshments, day trips (as well as some weekend and week-long trips).
