Youth Classes----

Clay Design Workshop (ages 7+)
Students will learn the basic construction methods in hand-building clay. Using their own creativity with the coil, pinch and slab methods as well as different glazing techniques, students will construct whimsical creatures, pinch pot percussions and marvelous mugs. A smock is recommended. All materials included.

8 Wednesdays, 1/13 - 3/2 from 4 - 5:30 pm

Glass Under Fire (ages 9+)
Join us for this NEW and exciting glass adventure! Glass Under Fire uses a kiln to melt or “Fuse” glass into beautiful pieces of art! Materials fee: $15

Design for the Times (ages 7-12)
Calling all creative problem solvers. Are you ready to explore careers in art, such as fashion, graphics, and toy design? This fun and challenging class provides opportunities for unique design solutions.

8 Tuesdays, 1/12 - 3/1 from 5:15 - 6:15 pm

Mad Science (grades K-5)
Join us for amazing fun in the Mad Science Lab experimenting with dry ice, slime and more. Classes are filled with experiments that mystify, quake and boggle your minds. Children will investigate super sticky stuff, chemistry and pH scales as well as our famous Slime Time class and much more!

INSTRUCTOR: Mad Science Staff LIMIT: 20

6 Wednesdays, 2/3 - 3/9 from 4:30 - 5:30 pm

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (ages 6-8)
Use logic, senses, and forensic science to solve crimes! Learn how to work the field scene and laboratory end of CSI using a digital microscope. We’ll use finger printing, tire tread patterns and more. Each lesson focuses on a new forensic skill that leads to solving a final investigation. No blood, no gore…but excitement galore! Children will work in groups of 2 to foster collaborative learning.

Children’s Dance (ages 4-9)

Learn to move and enjoy dancing in this kid-friendly class. Students will have a blast in a structured but fun and focused environment of both play and discipline. Tools of choreography will be introduced as part of their creative movement lesson as well as structured dance routines. Young students will learn to use level, space, their kinesthetic awareness and hone their partnering skills. A class culmination will result in a parent presentation.

Beading/Jewelry Basics
Learn about different types of beads, stringing materials, tools, findings and how they are used. Learn how to crimp, use chain, knot and attach clasps in a professional looking manner. Create necklaces, bracelets (including Swarovski crystal name bracelets), earrings and more. The instructor will provide a supply list. Participants can purchase their choice of beads and findings at local art/bead stores. (NO SENIOR DISCOUNT.)

Clay Studio
This class is designed for beginners and experienced individuals alike. By using the various ceramic techniques of: slab, coil, pinching, modeling, and glazing, students will create unique works of art that are both functional and sculptural. General projects will be assigned (pinch pot bottle forms, press pots, slab trays, etc.). (NO SENIOR DISCOUNT.)

Digital Photography Class
This course offers you an opportunity to have a hands on learning experience with either your DSLR camera or one for you to use during the class. You will learn the essential skills needed when taking creative photographs. During the course each student will not only take photographs but learn basic skills when editing and saving your images. You will also get a custom black and white or color print of your favorite images.

4 Tuesdays, 1/12 - 2/2 from 7 - 8:30 pm

Mah Jongg
Now is your chance to learn American Mah Jongg! It is a rummy-like board game where players use tiles to create winning combinations using the official National Mah Jongg League playing card. Don’t know the first thing about Mah Jongg? Now is your chance to learn! This course is geared to beginner, novice, and rusty players. If you already play the online matching game, expand your Mah Jongg knowledge. Bernadette May is owner of Game Friendzy in Haddonfield.

Woodworking Workshop
Bring your child (2 for the price of one)... OR just bring yourself... and build a table, book shelf or other project!
Ever wanted to try your hand at woodworking? In this class you choose the project that you want to build. You will then use the machines and tools throughout our full service woodshop to construct your project. We will teach you the skills you need as you get hands-on experience with our table saws, router tables, and other tools while you learn to build your own beautiful project from scratch.

Italian Beginner and Beyond
Come join us on a journey to learn Italian. While the class offers advancement for those who have completed the beginner session at CHW and beyond, anyone can attend who has had previous instruction and would like to advance in this beautiful language. Try it…you will like it. We build on vocabulary, grammar usage, and practice in speaking reading, writing, and enjoying various activities. Students are encouraged to participate in class and complete optional homework assignments. Allora, Avanti!
