Senior Citizens Advisory Board

The Senior Citizen Advisory Board is dedicated to promoting the welfare of senior citizens throughout Cherry Hill.

The Board can be reached via the Township Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services at 856.488.7868 or Recreation@CHTownship.com. You can also e-mail Board Chair Irene Burke or call the numbers listed below for specific services.

In their capacity they help plan annual events such as SeniorFest and the Senior Citizen Holiday Party. The also help organize senior clubs and activities and they address current issues facing the senior population.

The following activities and benefits are offered to senior citizens in Cherry Hill.

Gold Cards
All Cherry Hill citizens 60 years or over can obtain a Gold Card in the Recreation Department, (Room 102, Municipal Building, 820 Mercer Street) by showing proof of age and proof of residency-i.e. driver's license.

This card entitles the bearer to join in any of our free senior activities and to take advantage of discounts participating businesses throughout the Township.

A directory of these businesses can be yours by stopping in the Recreation Department.

SeniorFest
Every fall, Cherry Hill holds its annual salute to seniors. The Township plans a day of entertainment and enlightenment - music, workshops, exhibits, bingo, refreshments and other activities geared to our senior citizens-and it's all free!

Senior Citizens Holiday Party
Every December, hundreds of Cherry Hill seniors gather at the Annual Holiday Party to exchange season's greetings and share in an all-around good time. Highlighting this event is lunch, musical entertainment and prizes. Look for ticket information in November.

Handy Helper
Income-qualified senior citizens can receive free help with minor repairs through this Township program. We will arrange for a certified contractor to complete plumbing, carpentry or other minor repairs. Call 856.488.7855 to receive an application.

Senior & disabled residents bus service
Several free senior buses operate throughout Cherry Hill, Monday through Saturday, following a designated route. Arrangements can be made for transportation to special appointments within the Township. For a complete schedule, call the Mayor's Office at 856.488.7878.

Real estate tax deduction
A $250 real estate tax deduction is available, for those who don't currently receive it, to income-eligible property owners 65 years of age or older. If you are not receiving it, please call the Assessor's Office, 856.488.7899, or stop by Room 108 in the Municipal Building.

Cherry Hill sewer discount
Senior Citizen Taxpayers who qualify for the $250 Real Estate Tax Deduction automatically qualify to have the Township sewer rental fee waived. All homeowners, 60 years of age or over, can receive a 10 percent discount on Township sewer rental by showing proof of age at the Tax Collector's Office. For more information, please call 856.488.7880, or stop by the Tax Collector's Office in the Municipal Building.
