About the Historical Commission
Dedicated to preserving the history of the township, the fifteen-member Commission collects, preserves and maintains archives and memorabilia and assists in identifying historical resources in Cherry Hill.  The Commission also sponsors an annual lecture series through the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services.

Local History Rooms
Researching a paper or preparing a presentation? Looking for fascinating and unique resources? The Commission's archives include documents, images, and artifacts relative to the history, growth, and development of Cherry Hill. The archival material is housed at the Cherry Hill Public Library, 1100 King's Highway North. The rooms are staffed by Commission members on Wednesday evenings. Other hours by appointment: call 856.795.6225 or 856.488.7868.

Projects & Accomplishments
The Commission has received grants from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to renovate and stabilize the outbuildings and the Kay-Evans farmhouse at Croft Farm and succeeded in having the Croft Farm property listed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places. The Commission also used grant funds to conduct a Historic Resource Survey of Cherry Hill, which identified 500 existing buildings that were constructed prior to 1930. It investigated 38 of those properties which may be eligible for inclusion on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Interested residents can view this survey at the library.

In 1990, the Commission created a video entitled The Making of a Township which features interviews with past mayors of Cherry Hill. In 1994, it also produced the Auto Tour Guide of Historic Sites in the Township of Cherry Hill which is available for purchase at $2 from the Municipal Clerk’s office at Town Hall, the library, or the Barclay Farmstead.

Public Meetings
The Commission invites residents to its monthly meetings at 7:30 p.m. on second Wednesdays, September through June at the library.
