(Cherry
Hill, New Jersey)
– Members of the Tzu Chi Foundation from Cherry Hill cleaned up
a tributary stream of the south branch of the PennsaukenRiver,
behind the CrossroadsPlaza
off Church Road,
as part of Earth Day activities. This activity took place on Sunday,
April 20, 2008.
Led by Mr. Stanley Yang,
10 foundation members collected about 10 trash bags of
recyclable materials and 30 bags of mixed trash. Their efforts
helped return this riparian area, nestled in a developed area,
to a more natural setting.
"Concern for the
environment as exhibited by Stanley Yang and his group
illustrate how Cherry Hill
residents can make a positive impact locally,” stated Lew
Gorman, Chairman of the Cherry Hill Environmental Advisory
Committee (CHEAC).
As coordinators of 2008
Cherry Hill Earth Day Events, CHEAC had received word that Mr.
Yang and his Tzu Chi Foundation members living in town were
interested in contributing to their town’s environmental
improvements, starting with Earth Day 2008. CHEAC maintains a
list of conservation projects and clean-up locations.
