Route 70 closed at S. Birchwood Park Dr. due to downed wires
Route 70 is closed in both directions between Springdale Road and Old Orchard Road due to downed wires and a broken telephone pole in the roadway. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
- Route 70 westbound is being diverted onto Conestoga Drive in Evesham, then to Brandywine Drive, then left onto Greentree Road, and back to Route 70
- Route 70 eastbound traffic is being diverted onto southbound Springdale Road, to Kresson Road, to either Cropwell Road to Route 70 OR Evesham Road out to Route 73, then back to Route 70.
- Route 70 is NOT accessible from South Birchwood Park Drive or Wexford Drive.
Significant delays are reported in both directions on Route 70, and congestion is expected on Cropwell, Kresson, Greentree and Springdale roads, as well as on Conestoga and Brandywine in Evesham.
Police are on location to ensure the safety of the work area and motorists. PSE&G will work to make the necessary repairs as quickly as possible, however, there is currently no timeline for restoration.
Drivers should avoid the area as much as possible until the repairs have been completed, and plan alternate routes for your evening commute.
