WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, Cherry Hill Township and the Camden County Chamber of Commerce wish to honor Mel Zimmerman as he retires from the Chamber and begins a new chapter in his professional life; and
WHEREAS for more than 18 years, Mel has been a valuable piece of the Chamber’s marketing team, linking local businesses to resources and tools they need to succeed, facilitating relationships between business owners and community leaders, and serving as the emcee at countless ribbon-cuttings throughout the years; and
WHEREAS in addition to his work with the Chamber, Mel has supported a number of community organizations, including serving as a founding member and past president of the B’nai B’rith Couples Group, that have enriched our town; and
WHEREAS in everything that he does, Mel displays an inspirational amount of passion and energy that will be difficult to replace at the Chamber, but which we hope will translate into great success as Mel embarks upon a new chapter in his professional life; and
WHEREAS the Mayor, Council and Township staff have had the pleasure of working closely with Mel through the years, and we appreciate the true dedication that he has shown to Cherry Hill and Camden County for nearly two decades, and while we will miss his presence at the Chamber, we hope to continue to work with him in other capacities for many years to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, to be
Mel Zimmerman Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in thanking Mel for his many years of service to Cherry Hill Township, Camden County, the Chamber of Commerce, and our regional business community, and in wishing Mel great success in this new professional endeavor.____________________________Chuck CahnMayorOctober 15, 2014
