WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS March 12, 2014, marks the 102nd anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA, founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 in Savannah, Georgia; and
WHEREAS throughout its long and distinguished history, Girl Scouting has inspired millions of girls and women with the highest ideals of character, conduct and patriotism; and
WHEREAS through Girl Scouting, girls gain courage, con?dence and character to help make their local communities and the world a better place; and
WHEREAS more than 3.2 million current Girl Scout members nationwide are celebrating 102 years of this American tradition, along with nearly 60 million women who are former Girl Scouts and living proof of the impact of this amazing movement; and
WHEREAS Cherry Hill is home to a number of thriving Girl Scout troops, and the Mayor and Council are proud to acknowledge and celebrate the positive contributions these young women have made in the Cherry Hill community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim the week of March 9 to 15 to be
Girl Scout Week
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in celebrating the 102nd anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA, and applauding the commitment Girl Scouting has made to millions of girls and young women across the United States, and here in Cherry Hill.
