WHEREAS It is the intention of the Mayor and Council of the Township of Cherry Hill to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and causes; and
WHEREAS September has been established as National Preparedness Month to remind every resident of Cherry Hill of the importance of preparing their homes, businesses, and families for any type of emergency situation; and
WHEREAS adequately preparing ourselves, our families, our businesses, and our communities can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities and in our nation; and
WHEREAS the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Ready Campaign, Citizen Corps, and other federal, state and local agencies including the Cherry Hill Township Office of Emergency Management are working to increase public preparation for emergencies, and to educate individuals on how to take action; and
WHEREAS emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility, and the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill join with our local Emergency Management Coordinators to encourage all residents to make preparedness a priority and work together, as a team, to ensure that individuals, families, and communities are prepared for disasters and emergencies of any type.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim the month of September 2013 as
National Preparedness Month
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and urge all citizens and businesses to develop their own emergency preparedness plan, and work together toward creating a more prepared society ____________________________ Chuck CahnMayorSeptember 26, 2013
