WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Michael John Solometo, a member of Troop 166 in Cherry Hill, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, joining an elite group of young men dedicated to serving and improving the community; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout project, Michael helped to enhance the junior baseball fields at the Brookfield Academy by designing and building new dugouts, a task that required the help of a platoon of volunteers over the course of seven days; and
WHEREAS the honor of Eagle Scout is bestowed upon just five percent of all Boy Scouts annually, and Michael reached this milestone at just 15 years of age; and
WHEREAS the lessons learned and skills acquired while working toward the Eagle Scout rank provide will help remarkable young men like Michael to become leaders who will benefit our world for years to come; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are proud to call Michael one of Cherry Hill’s own, as he exemplifies the values that make our community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Sunday, October 6, 2013, to be
Michael John Solometo Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Michael on his tremendous achievement.
