WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS on June 22, 2013, longtime Cherry Hill resident Rose Kramer celebrated her 101st birthday; and
WHEREAS born Rose Matkin in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rose was a “city girl” who eventually found herself living on a farm in Williamstown, N.J.; and
WHEREAS Rose spent years as a homemaker and loving mother of one daughter, Diane Falzarano, and later took care of others as a companion to senior citizens in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS throughout her life, Rose has given of her time and talent to improve the lives of others – for example, knitting items and donating them to make patients at local hospitals more comfortable; and
WHEREAS Rose continues to be active as a resident of Lions Gate Continuing Care Retirement Community in Voorhees, where she spends her time knitting, playing cards with Diane and others, and completing word searches and other puzzles; and
WHEREAS always humble and generous, Rose has always preferred to remain out of the spotlight, but her kind heart and loving ways have made her an example to all who know her; and
WHEREAS Mayor Cahn and Township Council are honored to recognize a dedicated community member who is universally loved, wish to express their best wishes as she celebrates this milestone in her life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim June 29, 2013, to be
Rose Kramer Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in saying “Happy Birthday” to Rose and in wishing her continued health and happiness in the days, months, and years to come.
