WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS on May 9, 2013, Cherry Hill’s Henry C. Beck Middle School was designated as a National School of Character by the Character Education Program, which recognizes exemplary schools and districts nationwide that serve as models for other educators; and
WHEREAS to qualify for this prestigious award, Beck and its Character Education Team were required to demonstrate an outstanding character education initiative that yielded positive results in student behavior, school climate and academic performance; and
WHEREAS in receiving the award, Beck has been recognized for developing a caring community among students, staff and parents, incorporating core ethical and performance values into academic and extracurricular activities, and offering opportunities for students to display and reflect on their values through a reward system that honors ethical behavior; and
WHEREAS Cherry Hill is home to many accomplished schools that set an impressive standard for others, and the Mayor and Council wish to commend Henry C. Beck Middle School, Principal Perry, the students, staff and volunteers for their hard work toward becoming a National School of Character.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby declare Tuesday, June 11, 2013 as
Henry C. Beck Middle School
National School of Character Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in congratulating the entire Henry C. Beck Middle School community on this tremendous achievement.
