WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy individuals; and
WHEREAS this evening, the Temple Emanuel community has come together to honor our beloved Rabbi Geri Newburge, as she prepares to embark upon a new phase in her life; and
WHEREAS for the last decade, Rabbi Newburge has devoted herself to social action, and programs and events that have made a true and lasting impact to our community; and
WHEREAS through Thanksgiving Food Drives, holiday gift drives, charity walk-a-thons or other community-service initiatives, Rabbi Newburge has helped improved the lives of countless families and individuals in our region; and
WHEREAS perhaps most importantly, Rabbi Newburge has led by example, and taught our youngest community members about the importance of giving of ourselves to help others; and
WHEREAS for these reasons and many more, Rabbi Newburge will be deeply missed by all those who know her, and we wish to formally acknowledge the impact she has made on all our lives.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby declare Friday, May 3, 2013 as
Rabbi Geri Newburge Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in thanking Rabbi Newburge for her many years of faithful dedication and service to Temple Emanuel and the Cherry Hill community as a whole, and in wishing her health and happiness as she embarks upon this new chapter in life. ____________________________Chuck CahnMayorMay 3, 2013
