WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, we gather together to honor and celebrate Elvy T. Williams, Jr, a longtime resident of Cherry Hill and Military Veteran, as he turns 90; and
WHEREAS Elvy served in the United State Army with the 13th Air Force Division from 1942-1946 accumulating various honors during his service, including the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, and five Bronze Stars; and
WHEREAS being an active member of the community is a passion for Elvy, as shown through his many past affiliations, including membership in the Cherry Hill Civic Association, National Association of Letter Carriers, National Association of Retired Federal Employees,; also for hisparticipation in the Macedonia AME Church where he has held many positions, and his support of the Camden NAACP and the Boy and Girl Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS Elvy is a devoted husband, brother, son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, spreading his wisdom to those you look up to him; and
WHEREAS Mayor Cahn and Township Council wish Elvy a very happy and healthy 90th birthday, and express their deepest gratitude for his years of service.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby join in celebrating
Elvy T. Williams, Jr
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in saying “Happy Birthday” to Elvy, and in wishing him continued health and happiness in the days, months, and years to come.
