WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions, individuals and causes; and
WHEREAS studies have demonstrated that distracted driving – including the practice of texting while driving – is a significant cause of motor vehicle accidents and related injuries and fatalities nationwide; and
WHEREAS Lindsey Giannini, Miss Atlantic County 2013, has adopted distracted-driving awareness as her platform, and works tirelessly educating the public on the dangers of texting and driving; and
WHEREAS Miss Giannini recently contacted the Cherry Hill Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit, and generously agreed to donate four signs bearing this important message, to be installed at Cherry Hill High Schools East and West, Camden Catholic High School, and Camden County College; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill, along with the Cherry Hill Police Department, enthusiastically support Miss Giannini’s efforts to combat this dangerous practice, and wish to thank her for her continued work to educate the public about this dangerous practice.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby affirm the Township’s support for the
Stay Alive, Don’t Text & Drive Campaign
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and ask that all citizens join with the Mayor and Council in thanking Lindsey Giannini for her dedication to reducing accidents through education. We look forward to coordinating with Lindsey in the coming weeks to erect these signs and educate the public to the dangers of texting while driving.
