WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Liam Mahoney, a member of Troop 170 in Cherry Hill, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, joining a prestigious group of young men dedicated to serving and improving the community; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout Project, Liam spent over 120 hours designing and building a rainwater collection system and administering a used-tool drive to support the Beck Middle School Community Garden; and
WHEREAS Liam has earned 39 merit badges, above and beyond the Eagle Scout requirement, and served his Boy Scout troop in various leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Instructor, and Senior Patrol Leader; and
WHEREAS approximately two percent of all Boy Scouts obtain the rank of Eagle Scout, an elite group whose skills provide a foundation for these young leaders to continue to lead by example throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are proud to call Liam one of Cherry Hill’s own, as he exemplifies the values that make our community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, December 11, 2012, to be
Eagle Scout Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Liam on his tremendous achievement.
