WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Kevin Schreiber, a member of Troop 166 in Cherry Hill, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, joining a prestigious group of young men dedicated to serving and improving the community; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout Project, Kevin focused on erosion control and trail building at the Downs Farm Green Acres site, a project that included organizing fellow scouts and volunteers in the installation of more than 30 erosion bars, filling large holes on the trail path, and clearing brush in October 2011; and
WHEREAS Kevin has earned 35 merit badges, above and beyond the Eagle Scout requirement, and served as Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 166 from July 2011 to July 2012; and
WHEREAS the honor of Eagle Scout has been bestowed upon just over 2 million Boy Scouts since 1912, and the lessons and skills this elite group exhibits provides a foundation for these young leaders to continue to lead by example through service throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are proud to call Kevin one of Cherry Hill’s own, as he exemplifies the values that make our community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Sunday, September 9, 2012 to be
Eagle Scout Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Kevin on his tremendous achievement.
