WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS N. John Amato, a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Councilman for Cherry Hill Township, celebrated his eightieth birthday on July 5, 2012; and
WHEREAS since moving to Cherry Hill in 1963 with his family Councilman Amato has served the greater Cherry Hill community through his diligent work on various boards and committees throughout town including the local Sons of Italy, Board President of the Camden County Vocational School, board member for the YALE school, annually playing Santa Claus for a number of charitable organizations, amongst many other positions which have impacted the entire community; and
WHEREAS Councilman Amato has become a staple in Cherry Hill Township as he has held Township Council office and dutifully served the community since 1983 and currently serving in his eighth consecutive term as the longest serving and eldest Councilmember in the history of Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS throughout his time on Township Council, N. John Amato previously held the positions of Council President and Vice President and remains a prominent influence and source of great wisdom for the entire community; and
WHEREAS the Township of Cherry Hill is grateful to Councilman N. John Amato for his unsurpassed service to the Cherry Hill Township community over the past 29 years, and certainly count on his wisdom and guidance to ensure Cherry Hill’s leadership for the years to come; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, July 8, 2012 as
Councilman
N. John Amato Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work, dedication and many years of service of N. John Amato and celebrating his 80th Birthday.
